My Goals in Municipal and County Election…

Healthy and Safe Schools
In the upcoming council term, Turku must continue investing in education and reducing the maintenance backlog of school buildings. The voices of students, pupils, and school staff must be heard in decision-making concerning schools.

A Vibrant Student Life
During the next council term, Turku should establish itself as the student capital. The city influences students’ daily lives through housing construction, services, and public transport. Reducing the bureaucracy around organizing student events is a concrete initiative to make students more visible in public spaces.

Sustainable Economy
In the coming council term, Turku’s economy must be built on a healthy and sustainable foundation. The city must invest in the future while controlling cost increases. Supporting new businesses and job creation should be a priority. Services, such as welfare, sports, and cultural services, must be easily accessible, and Turku should lead the way in organizing employment services transferred to municipalities.

A Green City and Carbon Neutrality
Turku must grow sustainably in the next council term. The city should continue its ambitious efforts in urban development, achieving carbon neutrality, and combating biodiversity loss. Decision-making should be based on input from residents and city employees to ensure a green urban environment and Turku’s leadership in the green transition.

Implementing a Therapy Guarantee
Despite financial pressures, the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland (Varha) must ensure adequate mental health services. Long waiting times, slow access to care, and short treatment chains prevent high-quality mental health care. A genuine therapy guarantee ensures the availability of diverse and high-quality mental health services, low-threshold access to care, and sufficiently long treatment relationships.

Sustainable Economy: Getting People from Queues to Care
The primary task of the wellbeing services county is to provide social and healthcare services and rescue services in Southwest Finland. This is the key issue in regional elections.
Varha must ensure that its funding is sufficient to organize services and that resources are also allocated to preventive measures. Keeping people stuck in treatment queues is the most expensive approach for the wellbeing services county. Varha’s primary duty is to guarantee residents their constitutional right to life and health.

A Workforce That Can Cope
Without a well-supported workforce, social and healthcare services, as well as rescue services, cannot be guaranteed. Cutting staff is an easy but unsustainable long-term solution for providing essential services. Mere verbal appreciation, as promoted by conservative policies, does not pay the bills or ensure workplace well-being. In addition to fair salaries and sensible workforce planning, there must be enough personnel in the wellbeing services county to secure both employee well-being and the delivery of services.
